[Presenter in Pashto] Local elders of Balkh Province have called on people not to stage demonstrations.

A Radio Kelid correspondent reports that several scholars and influential figures have called on people to be patient and not to stage demonstrations. Here is a report by our correspondent.

[Correspondent in Dari] In a telephone conversation, Balkh Province Governor Ustad Atta Mohammad said that religious scholars and elders had called on the residents of Mazar-e Sharif not to stage demonstrations.

Atta Mohammad said people's feeling should not to be roused by Afghanistan's enemies. Those who stage demonstrations will be prosecuted. Anyone who attempts to create unrest, undermine security or stage a demonstration will be dealt with in accordance with the law.
