Pajhwok02/05/2008By Mustafa Besharat [Printer Friendly Version] KABUL (PAN): Chief of the state-owned Ariana Airline Company (AAC) on Tuesday warned to resign unless President Hamid Karzai clarifies his stance regarding privatizing the government-owned company in a week time. Addressing a news conference here Zabihullah Esmati blamed a number of high government officials, legislators as well as few Ariana personnel for trying to bring down the Company that has served the people for over fifty years. Government authorities never positively responded to the development plans drafted by the company for funding, he added. There were some groups in the government and in Ariana Company that were struggling to encourage the government to privatize the company, he claimed without disclosing identities of the individuals of those he accused. Esmati said he had already delivered list of the harming hands behind the company to the president. "Through media I want to demand President Hamid Karzai to make public his decision about the fate of Ariana." He demanded. Government should purchase two new aircrafts for the company had it want to support it, he added. Esmati also praised the achievements of the company in the field of attracting costumers and reforms in the company's institutions during the last ten months.
