A 42-year-old brave Afghan man died after he plunged into a contaminated water tank in Saudi Arabia to rescue an African man, who escaped death.

The African driver of a truck was trying to empty the tank at a restaurant into his vehicle when he fell into the water and screamed for help.

The Afghan man, a restaurant worker, rushed to the tank and jumped in as scores of other people watched.

“He pushed the African out but could not climb out himself…the African was taken to the hospital and police said the Afghan died of asphyxia after he lost consciousness because the water is contaminated,” Alwtan daily said in a report from the Western Red Sea port of Jeddah.
