 A football coach killed by police in Badakhshan

KABUL - A football coach from Kishm district, in northeastern Badakshan province was shot dead by Badakshan-Takhar highway police after a squabble, officials said Wednesday.


Mohammad Nazir, was killed in Kishm district at a police check point, when his team was on their way to a football tournament in northern Takhar.


Colonel Makhdum Fazel Ahmad, the security commander of Kishm district told Pajhwok Afghan News that the football team had a quarrel with police during a routine inspection, following which a policeman opened fire on them.


"A policeman is detained and investigations are ongoing." he added.
