Pajhwok 03/18/2010By Obaid Kharoti & Bashir Ahmad Nadam [Printer Friendly Version] SHARAN/KANDAHAR - Taliban have killed two men on the charge of spying for the Afghan government and foreign forces in southeastern Paktika, while a suicide blast targeted a joint patrol of foreign and Afghan troops in Kandahar province. In Paktika, residents of the Sarawza district told Pajhwok Afghan News the Taliban abducted the two men from Todobai village two days ago and their bodies were found dumped on the outskirts of the district centre late Monday evening. A note attached to the bodies said: "We killed them because they were spying for the US forces and government." Governor's spokesman Mukhlis Afghan said the slain people had no connection with the government or foreign forces. He added the Taliban wanted to spread fear and panic among civilians through such brutal activities. Elsewhere, a suicide bomber detonated his explosives Tuesday near a joint foot patrol of Afghan and foreign troops in southern province of Kandahar. Media officer at the governor's house said the blast happened at around 10: 30am in the 8th police district of provincial capital, Kandahar city. The garget was the joint forces, he said and added the forces remained unhurt, but only the attacker was perished by blast. Deputy police chief, Col. Fazal Ahmad Sherzad also said the troops suffered no casualties, but a security official on the condition of anonymity said three foreign and an Afghan soldier were wounded in the attack. Identifying the attacker as Rahmatullah, resident of Zheri district, Taliban spokesman Qari Yousuf Ahmadi claimed the attack left 11 foreigners dead.
