CNN/AFP03/17/2010By [Printer Friendly Version] Kabul (AFP) - At least 35 people were killed today when a bus crashed into a truck and then burst into flames on a treacherous pass in northern Afghanistan, the interior ministry said. The bus was travelling north from Kabul along the narrow Salang pass when it "had an accident with a truck, as a result of which 35 passengers, including women, men and children, were killed," a ministry statement said. The truck burst into flames, it said, adding that police and health workers had taken a number of people to hospital. KABUL (CNN) - A crash between a bus and a truck killed 35 people in northern Afghanistan Wednesday, the Interior Ministry said. The bus was traveling north from Kabul, Afghanistan's capital city, when the crash occurred, officials said. The accident occurred in the mountainous Salang Pass area on a narrow road that has been known for deadly crashes. More than 160 people were killed in that mountain pass in February when avalanches hit the area burying vehicles under snow.
